Credit & Debit Cards

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Discover

Digital Wallets

  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • PayPal

Currency

All prices are in CAD (Canadian Dollars). Your card will be charged in CAD.

Adding a Payment Method

First-Time Setup

When subscribing to Professional or Growth:

  1. Go to Settings > Subscription
  2. Click Subscribe or Upgrade
  3. Select your plan
  4. Enter payment details:
    • Card number
    • Expiration date (MM/YY)
    • CVC code
    • Billing postal code
  5. Click Subscribe

Adding a Backup Card

Keep a backup payment method:

  1. Go to Settings > Billing
  2. Click Add Payment Method
  3. Enter new card details
  4. Click Save Card
  5. Card saved as backup

Setting Primary Card

If you have multiple cards:

  1. Go to Settings > Billing
  2. See list of payment methods
  3. Click Set as Primary on preferred card
  4. Primary card used for all charges

Updating Payment Methods

Update Card Details

When your card expires or changes:

  1. Go to Settings > Billing
  2. Find the card to update
  3. Click Edit or Update
  4. Enter new card details
  5. Click Save

Remove a Card

  1. Go to Settings > Billing
  2. Find the card to remove
  3. Click Remove
  4. Confirm removal

Note: You must have at least one payment method on file for an active subscription.

Payment Security

How We Protect Your Data

  • PCI DSS Compliant - Industry standard security
  • Encrypted - Card details encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Stripe Processing - Payments handled by Stripe
  • No Card Storage - We never store your full card number

What We Store

We only store:

  • Last 4 digits of card
  • Card brand (Visa, MC, etc.)
  • Expiration date
  • Billing postal code

Billing Cycles

Monthly Billing

  • Charged same day each month
  • Based on original signup date
  • Example: Signup March 15 = charged every 15th

Annual Billing

  • Charged once per year
  • Same date anniversary
  • Save money vs. monthly

Changing Billing Cycle

Switch between monthly and annual:

  1. Go to Settings > Subscription
  2. Click Change Billing Cycle
  3. Select Monthly or Annual
  4. Review price change
  5. Confirm

Monthly to Annual: Immediate, prorated credit applied Annual to Monthly: Takes effect at renewal

Handling Failed Payments

Why Payments Fail

Common reasons:

  • Card expired
  • Insufficient funds
  • Card declined by bank
  • Billing address mismatch
  • Card reported lost/stolen

What Happens

  1. Immediate: Email notification sent
  2. Grace Period: 5 days to fix
  3. Retry: We retry the charge
  4. Service: Full access during grace period
  5. After 5 Days: Account access restricted

Fixing Failed Payment

  1. Check email for failure notice
  2. Go to Settings > Billing
  3. Click Update Payment Method
  4. Enter valid card details
  5. Click Retry Payment

Preventing Failures

  • Update card before expiration
  • Keep billing address current
  • Ensure sufficient funds
  • Add backup payment method

Receipts & Invoices

Automatic Receipts

After each payment:

  • Receipt emailed automatically
  • Copy saved in billing history
  • Download PDF anytime

Viewing Receipts

  1. Go to Settings > Billing
  2. Click Invoice History
  3. See all past payments
  4. Click any invoice to view/download

Receipt Details

Each receipt includes:

  • Invoice number
  • Date charged
  • Amount paid
  • Tax breakdown
  • Payment method used

Common Questions

Q: What payment methods do you accept?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Q: Is my payment information secure?

Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe with bank-level encryption. We never store your full card number.

Q: Can I use PayPal?

Yes, PayPal is accepted. Select PayPal during checkout.

Q: What currency are prices in?

All prices are in CAD (Canadian Dollars).

Q: When will I be charged?

Monthly: Same day each month. Annual: Same date each year. Based on your original signup date.

Q: Can I change my billing date?

No, billing date is based on your original subscription date. Contact support if you need special arrangements.

Q: What if my card is declined?

You'll receive an email notification. Update your payment method within 5 days to avoid service interruption.

Q: Can I pay by invoice/check?

Standard plans require card payment. Contact sales@akiliapps.com for enterprise billing options.
